Rebetiko, a Greek kind of urban music got an UNESCO heritage status, being on the same heritage side as the Portuguese fado, the Spanish Flamenco, and the American Blues. As mentioned on the UNESCO website: "Rebetiko is a musical and cultural expression directly linked to song and dance that initially spread among the urban lower and working-class populations in the early twentieth century".
